Aerosmith Throws In The Towel

It sounds as though the injuries Steven Tyler sustained from his recent fall of a catwalk during the group’s performance at the Sturgis motorcycle rally are more serious than first thought. Granted, the rumors of his death were obviously exaggerated, but crazy stuff spreads like wildfire these days with the internet and all, and from the sounds of his head injury, he may have appeared to fans in Sturgis to be in pretty tough shape.

It was officially announced late yesterday that the tour had been canceled and the reason was due to Tyler’s injuries. For fans holding tickets, it was announced that they will be able to get refunds from the point of purchase.

“Words can’t express the sadness I feel for having to cancel this tour,” guitarist Joe Perry is quoted as saying. He went on to say, “I would like to thank our loyal fans for sticking by us through thick and thin and all the good energy they are sending our way.”

On the band’s website guitarist Brad Whitford was also quoted, saying, “We never anticipated this tour coming to such a swift and unfortunate ending. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Steven for a speedy recovery and return to good health.”

It is now being revealed that Tyler broke his left shoulder and also required multiple stitches to repair a head injury. It looks as if his recovery time is expected to be too lengthy for another round of postponements, and the group had to fall back on the option of ending the tour.

There was no word on whether the group will plan another tour, and perhaps that is something they do not even know the answer to yet. Perry continues to sound hopeful however, and says, “We hope we can get the Aerosmith machine up and running again as soon as possible.”
