Originally from Sayreville, New Jersey and founded by lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, the group enjoyed large-scale success during the 1980's and is well known as a very successful classic rock act. To date, Bon Jovi has sold over 120 million albums worldwide.
Founded in 1983 was lead singer Jon Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, keyboardist David Bryan, bass player Alec John Such and drummer Tico Torres, the group's line-up has changed very little since the beginning, with only the departure of Alec John Such during 1994.
After recording two somewhat successful albums in 1984 and 1985, the group finally hit the big time when they released the album entitled "Slippery When Wet" during 1986. Two years later the group released "New Jersey," which placed them firmly on the path to stardom and resulted in sales of 19 million albums in just the United States alone.
During their long career, Bon Jovi has released a total of 10 studio albums, nine of which have been certified platinum. The band also has managed to land 19 singles on the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 with five of them reaching the coveted number one position. Bon Jovi also has to their credit the impressive record for the most weeks a hard rock album spent at the number one position on the Billboard 200 with the release of "Slippery When Wet."
Bon Jovi continues to work today touring of the world and recording.
