George Thorogood was born on February 24, 1950 and was raised in Naamans Gardens, a suburb of Wilmington, Delaware.

In 1976 Thorogood recorded his debut album George Thorogood & The Destroyers with, appropriately enough, his band called "The Destroyers." and released the album in 1977. Thorogood's next album came out in 1978 and was given the title Move It On Over.

Thorogood spent some time as a semi-pro baseball player before deciding that a career in music was what he really wanted. In the 1970's, George and the band settled in Boston.

The group was known for undertaking grueling touring schedules and once embarked on a one show per state tour for all fifty states in exactly fifty nights. In addition, they played Washington, DC on the same day that they performed a show in Maryland.

Through the 1980's and 1990's, Thorogood recorded some of his best known hits. "Bad to the Bone" was used often in TV and movies.
