Born on May 20, 1944, in Sheffield, England, John Robert "Joe" Cocker made a name for himself as a rock/blues vocalist who attained popularity in the 1960's. Cocker is easily recognized for his trademark gritty vocals and his cover versions of popular songs, especially those of "The Beatles."
Cocker performed the opening set at Woodstock '94 as one of the only alumni who performed at the original Woodstock Festival in 1969, and was very well received. In 2007, he played a minor role in the film, Across the Universe, as the lead singer on another "Beatles" hit, "Come Together"
