The Canadian rock band "Loverboy" was founded during 1980 in Calgary, Alberta. The group accumulated a string of hit songs in Canada and the United States during the 1980's. They recorded four multi-platinum albums and sold millions of records.
After rejections by many U.S. record companies, they eventually signed with Columbia Records Canada and started work on their first album on March 20, 1980 with Mike Reno on lead vocals, Paul Dean playing guitar, Scott Smith on bass, Doug Johnson handling keyboard duties, and Matt Frenette behind the drums.
The group's hit singles, especially "Turn Me Loose" and "Working for the Weekend" have become arena rock staples, and can still be heard on numerous classic rock radio stations across North America. The group currently based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
