The "Marshall Tucker Band" is a southern rock band originally from Spartanburg, South Carolina. The band was founded in 1972 with original members Doug Gray serving as vocalist, George McCorkle on rhythm guitar, Paul Riddle on drums, Jerry Eubanks playing flute, and brothers Toy Caldwell on lead guitar and Tommy Caldwell on bass.

The group signed with Capricorn Records and by 1973, had released their first album entitled "The Marshall Tucker Band." Charlie Daniels, was never considered an official member of the band, but he did play fiddle on many of the bands early albums.

When compared to southern rock pioneers "The Allman Brothers Band," the "Marshall Tucker Band" had a more country and western sound, with the flute being a key lead instrument in their material. Some of their most popular hits include "Can't You See", "Fire on the Mountain", and "This Ol' Cowboy."
