Rush Announces Details of New Tour

2 51

After the appearance of a mysterious countdown clock on Rush’s official website, the group has made good on their hint that an important announcement from the band was imminent.

The group has announced plans for their “Time Machine” tour which will begin on June 29th. Billed as “an evening with Rush,” the tour will take the Canadian trio through about 40 North American cities, and for the first time in the band’s history, the show will include their performance of an entire album.Rush Time Machine Tour

The group’s 1981 album, Moving Pictures, will be played live in its entirety. Featuring some of Rush’s best-known hits such as “Tom Sawyer” and “Limelight,” the selection of Moving Pictures will probably be on that is welcomed by fans who score tickets for the show.

The tour will likely feature a few brand-new songs in addition to the standards that fans might expect. Members of the group have been hinting for months that they might write a few new songs and then take them on the road.

Rush is obviously making some significant changes in the way they do business in response to developments that have fans consuming both audio and video content via the internet and other digital media.

It was also announced that the group is in the process of working on their 20th studio album, and have once again enlisted the services of producer Nick Raskulinecz, who worked with the group previously.  Raskulinecz is highly regarded by the band, and is credited with pushing them to new limits during the production of their last album, 2007’s Snakes & Arrows.

No release date has yet been mentioned for the new album, but it may simply be too early in the process for an estimate on a completion date.

“Moving Pictures” in it’s entirity is good news! I was too young to see them the last time they performed “The Camera Eye”.

Maybe they’ll do all the parts of “Fear” this time, too!
