Eddie Van Halen To Appear on CBS Sitcom ‘Two And A Half Men’
Van Halen fans should be on the lookout for axe man Eddie Van Halen on the CBS Comedy Two And A Half Men when it returns to the air on September 21st. Van Halen has agreed to appear during one of the show’s episodes after being asked by the show’s executive producer who approached Van Halen while he was on his honeymoon with new wife Janie Liszewski.
Reportedly a big fan of the program, Van Halen accepted the invitation and will be playing himself on the show and also playing guitar. What else would we expect from Eddie Van Halen?
Two And A Half Men debuted on CBS in 2003 and stars Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer. The program has been nominated twice for a Golden Globe award and has earned numerous other awards.
Van Halen is expected to be on the set taping the show in Burbank this week.
Recovering nicely from recent hand surgery, Van Halen has been talking in recent weeks about the future of the group, which appears to be moving forward with talk of working on new music and putting together another tour at some point in the future. The group is expected to continue with its current lineup, including off-again-on-again frontman David Lee Roth and Van Halen’s son Wolfgang on bass.

Van Halen Offspring Credited With Eddie’s Comeback
In an interview with Hustler magazine, famed guitar master Eddie Van Halen reveals that his playing skills were a bit rusty when the group convened to being practice for their last tour. Fortunately for him, his son Wolfgang was on top of things and was able to help his dad recall some long-forgotten licks – some of which he had not played for 25 years.
After that much time, it’s easy to understand how things like that could be forgotten. Add to that a few brain cells that fell victim to Van Halen’s well-publicized problems with the bottle and it makes it even more understandable that the 54-year-old forgot how to play some of his own music.
As Van Halen tells Hustler, Wolfgang was right there to help his dad when needed. “I’d start playing and Wolfgang would say, ‘Dad, you’re playing it wrong,’ he admits.
Although many fans were unhappy about the exclusion of original VH bass player Michael Anthony, perhaps having his son onboard was the kind of moral and technical support that Eddie Van Halen needed to get himself back on track enough to hit the road and make it through a tour.
So far I have not heard the details of Eddie’s alleged medical problems that had sidelined the tour for a while, and suspicions remain that it could have been due to substance abuse problems. The apparent secrecy surrounding the reasons for whatever treatment he needed only serve to add fuel to the fire regarding the speculation about a short relapse that may have lured him back under the influence of the bottle.
All accounts are that son Wolfgang is not the type of kid who is involved with drinking or drug abuse, and may be instrumental in keeping his dad on the straight and narrow. It’s impossible to know for sure, but it seems like young Wolfgang might be just what his dad needed at this point in his life.

Eddie Van Halen Says Current Van Halen Line-up Is A Band
I suppose more than a few Van Halen fans have been wondering if the reunion tour with former singer David Lee Roth and Eddie’s son Wolfgang was something that would lead to more from the latest incarnation of the group, or just kind of fade away because Eddie and Diamond Dave could not get along. It certainly would not be the first time.
According to recent word from Eddie Van Halen however, everything is all good between the boys. As he put it, “Dave, Wolfie, Alex and I are a band.” He also says that he hopes that once things slow down a bit, he’d like to get together with his band mates and talk about making some new music, which he reports he has “tons of.”
Van Halen also indicates that he’s up for another tour if it is something that David Lee Roth would want to be a part of. There are plans for Eddie, brother Alex and son Wolfgang to start jamming within a week or two.
Among the things other than music that will be keeping them busy this year will be Eddie’s marriage to fiancée Janie Liszweski, and the high school graduation of son and Van Halen bassist Wolfgang.
Despite some health problems that sidelined Eddie Van Halen and put the last tour on hold for a while, the tour was considered a success by most fans and critics, and certainly provided a nice financial boots for the group, raking in a reported $93 million.
Now who wouldn’t want to do that again?

Wolfgang Van Halen Says Dad Is Doing Great
Appearing at the Nickolodeon’s 2008 Kid’s Choice Awards on Saturday, new Van Halen bass player, Wolfgang Van Halen, say his father Eddie is doing great.
There’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the cause of Eddie Van Halen’s medical problems, although there was much speculation that he was in rehab. Van Halen’s ex-wife Valerie Bertinelli has stated recently that Eddie is sober and is not in rehab.
Van Halen is scheduled to resume their tour on April 17 in Reno. The Reno date is a new one that was reportedly added by the group after “overwhelming fan demand.” Before this new date, the group was scheduled to resume their tour in Las Vegas on April 19.
Van Halen halted their tour a few weeks ago so that Eddie could deal with his medical problems. Whether or not the true nature of his medical problems becomes public remains to be seen.

Van Halen Off The Road Until April 19
Whatever it is that is ailing Van Halen Guitar God Eddie Van Halen is not being talked about outside the inner circle of VH.
Recent word from ex Van Halen wife Valerie Bertinelli indicates that Eddie is “OK,” whatever that means. I’m sure it might bring a little comfort to some VH fans, but at the same time, makes others wonder if it is the old drinking thing again.![]()
There’s a lot of speculation that Eddie is off the wagon again and the group is remaining tight-lipped about the whole affair, which is exactly what you would expect if drinking or drugging is the problem again.
Latest word on the plans for the tour has it being placed on hiatus until April 19 when they are scheduled to Rock Las Vegas. Fans that hold tickets for the postponed shows are encouraged to hang onto them since they will be honored for the new dates.
The new dates for the postponed shows are said to be in the works and will be released as soon as they are confirmed.
Up until recently the Van Halen tour seemed to be going quite well. Venues were sold out and there were a lot of good reviews being penned.
Just before the postponements started there was talk about Eddie’s playing not being up to snuff and possible infighting within the group. Now I guess fans will just have to wait it out and see if the rock legends can rise above it all and get their act back on the road.
