The Faces Currently Planning Tour Dates

Filed under: Classic Rock News — Real Rock News @ 2:35 pm

With the original line-up all in place, with the exception of the late Ronnie Lane, The Faces are in the process of firming up their tour dates for 2009. The group has also been working on some new material, and sound like they are anxious to get the reunion tour on the road.

“We had a few fantastic rehearsals last week and we’re ready to go. It’s like no time has passed by. We just have to sort out when and where and drop all of the management egos and just do what we can. We know we can do it,” guitarist Ron Wood recently said.

Lane’s spot will be occupied by Rod Stewart’s tour bassist Conrad Korsch.

The Faces disbanded in 1975 when Wood departed to join up with the Rolling Stones and Rod Stewart decided to devote himself to his solo career.

Faces Reunion Still On

Filed under: Classic Rock News — Real Rock News @ 10:32 am

Despite the recent turmoil in Ron Wood’s personal life which involved a stint in rehab and a split with his wife of 23 years, the reunion with his former Faces band mates appears to be on track. Wood’s recent problems had cast some doubt on the possibility of a reunion, but a recent development indicates that they are close to taking their first steps towards that goal.

As reported by RayGigs.com, Wood and  Rod Stewart were scheduled to meet Monday in the studio for their first rehearsal to see how their memory of their material has held up through the years. Rod Stewart’s current bassist was set to join them for rehearsal due to the passing of Faces bass player Ronnie Lane last year.

All the remaining original members of the group were also set to show up for the rehearsal.

The Faces formed during 1969 and went on to release a total of four studio albums and toured until 1975 when Ron Wood left the group to join on full-time with the Rolling Stones.

Pretenders Planning Tour Next Year

To support their latest album, Break Up The Concrete, The Pretenders are planning to tour during 2009 and according to Chrissie Hynde, they hope to be on the road for most of the year.

Currently, there are no plans for another act to join them on the tour. They did tour with ZZ Top and Stray Cats last year, but Hynde hopes to headline the tour since Hynde is a vegan and would rather avoid dealing with another group that they would have to share catering with, and may want to include meat on the menu. John Deacon Stays Out of Queen Lineup

According to the current group of fellows that comprise Queen and Paul Rodgers, their former band mate John Deacon has so far declined to take part in any of the group’s recent activities. The former Queen bass player is always welcome to re-join the group if he wishes, but he has refused.

For the group’s latest album, The Cosmos Rocks, bass duties were shared among Rodgers, May and former Blue Oyster Cult bassist Danny Miranda.

There is no mention of Deacon’s reason for refusing to be part of the group. Perhaps he just feels like some fans do that Queen is no longer Queen without frontman Freddie Mercury. Full Story.Ron Wood's Art

Zeppelin-signed Ron Wood Painting Readied For Auction

A rare painting of late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun by Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones will be going up for auction by Christie’s in New York City on November 24th.

The portrait has been signed by Wood as well as the three surviving original members of Led Zeppelin. Jason Bonham, son of original drummer John Bonham, also signed the limited edition print. The print was created to commemorate Led Zeppelin’s reunion show at the O2 last winter in tribute to Ertegun.

Although 100 prints were produced for the original issue, and were being sold at the O2 event for $10,000 each, only eight of them include the Led Zeppelin signatures and are only now being made available. Full Story.

Blake’s book, from which these ten facts were taken, is available at Amazon. Full Story.
