Van Halen’s David Lee Roth Cuts Loose On Misbehaving Fan

People say a lot of things about David Lee Roth, and these days a lot of people are saying that his voice isn’t quite what it used to be — among other things. One thing you probably won’t hear anyone say is that Diamond Dave is the kind of guy who regularly finds himself at a loss for words. That certainly wasn’t the case a few nights ago when Van Halen was performing in Camden, New Jersey at the Susquehanna Bank Center.

Everyone who has attended a few live shows knows very well that the overwhelming majority of folks in the audience are well-behaved and are just happy to be there to listen to the music. Other folks aren’t satisfied unless they are drawing attention to themselves by doing something stupid. That was the case at the Susquehanna Bank Center when one fan decided it would be a good idea to toss a beer up onto the stage in the general vicinity of Mr. Roth, who promptly put a stop to the music to berate the disruptive spectator.

Roth surely didn’t pull any punches when he addressed the issue, making remarks about how he would have once promised to sleep with the dude’s girlfriend in retaliation, but settled on suggesting that he had already slept with the woman who was currently his wife. He then went on to make a very suggestive gesture with his microphone and finish up by flipping the guy off before he prompted the boys in the band to resume playing.

One thing most performers probably learn early on is how to deal with a jerk in the crowd.
