Elton John has announced some exciting news for fans south of the border. The legendary singer and pianist will play two farewell concerts in Mexico City on October 2 and 3, 2026, at Estadio Banorte. These dates will serve as the final chapter of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road era and mark his first major performances in the Mexican capital in 14 years.

The announcement fulfills a long-delayed promise. When the global pandemic disrupted touring plans, the Latin American leg of the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour had to be canceled. Fans who had waited for years were left disappointed. Now, Elton is making good on that missed opportunity with two nights billed as a heartfelt celebration for both the artist and a city that has embraced his music across generations.

In a statement released with the news, Elton expressed his personal connection to Mexico City and his excitement about returning. “Mexico City has always held a special place in my heart,” he said. “I was truly disappointed that the pandemic kept me from touring Latin America during my Farewell tour which makes this return especially meaningful. I’m thrilled to finally share this very special moment with my fans after all these years.”

The shows are being presented by AEG Presents, Cardenas Marketing Network, and Enso Music. Organizers describe the evenings as a once-in-a-lifetime engagement designed to honor Elton’s enduring bond with Mexican audiences.

Elton’s history with Mexico City stretches back more than 30 years. He first performed there in November 1992, playing two nights at Azteca Stadium (now known as Estadio Banorte) during The One tour. Those large-scale shows created lasting memories for fans who packed the iconic venue. He returned in 2012 for a pair of more intimate “Elton and Ray Cooper” performances at Auditorio Nacional. After those 2012 dates, more than a decade passed without a proper return to the capital. These upcoming concerts will close that circle in fitting fashion.

The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour itself stands as one of the most successful in rock history. Announced in 2018 as a three-year retirement sendoff, the trek was extended by the pandemic and finally concluded in July 2023. It grossed nearly a billion dollars and sold more than six million tickets worldwide. While Elton has indicated he has no plans for another full-scale tour, these Mexico City shows align with his earlier comments about the possibility of occasional special events. They give fans who missed the original Latin American dates a proper chance to say goodbye.

For longtime supporters, the performances carry extra weight. Elton’s catalog has soundtracked lives across continents and decades. Classics such as “Your Song,” “Rocket Man,” “Tiny Dancer,” and “Crocodile Rock” sit alongside deeper album tracks and collaborations that continue to resonate. These two nights promise to blend high-energy hits with moments of reflection and gratitude. Expect the kind of emotional, career-spanning set that has defined his farewell era.

Demand for tickets is expected to run very high. A Banorte Bank presale runs July 13 and 14, followed by a Rocket Club artist presale on July 15. General public tickets go on sale July 16. All sales begin at noon local time in Mexico City through Superboletos. Prices range from approximately 990 MXN to 16,000 MXN plus service fees. A limited number of VIP packages will also be available, offering reserved seating, pre-show hospitality, photo opportunities at the piano, and exclusive merchandise.

As the Rocket Man prepares to take the stage in Mexico City one final time, the sense of occasion is clear. These concerts represent more than the end of a tour. They celebrate a remarkable connection between an artist and a city that has supported him for more than three decades. For fans who have waited through cancellations and long absences, October 2026 will deliver the sendoff they have long deserved.

Elton John’s music has always transcended borders. These two nights at Estadio Banorte will stand as a joyful, emotional capstone to one of the most extraordinary careers in popular music. Mexico City is getting its proper farewell, and the Rocket Man will be landing there one last time.
