Update: It is now being reported that AC/DC will not be performing at the Wrestlemania event. Instead, AC/DC will be in the middle of their European tour on April 5th.

If you happen to be a fan of AC/DC and professional wrestling, this may be your year. The Australian hard rockers are scheduled to perform at Wrestlemania XXV on April 5th at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Wrestlemania is considered to be the Super Bowl of the sport for wrestling fans with big name WWE wrestlers facing off for the pay-per-view event. AC/DC will provide the theme song for the event, although there is no word on which song they will play.

Vince McMahon is reported to be a huge fan of AC/DC, which was probably instrumental in the decision to invite the group to participate in the event. McMahon’s wife and WWE CEO Linda McMahon announced the news at the 36th annual Global Media and Communications Conference in New York.

When my two boys were younger, they watched their share of WWE wrestling (called WWF at the time) on television, and what little bit I saw of these matches leads me to the conclusion that hard-rocking AC/DC is a pretty good pick for the electric atmosphere that appears to accompany those events.
