Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott Does Not Hold Back
— August 11, 2007 0 221I don’t know if Joe Elliott already had a reputation for speaking his mind or whether it is a reputation he has just started to develop, but in this recent interview, he does not hold back when he is asked about other artists.
Elliott sure does not have much love for Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses fame, that’s for sure. I don’t know much about Axl Rose, but maybe he is as big a jerk as Elliott says he is. Since I have never been a fan of Guns N’ Roses and don’t care much about them, the lack of news about them on this site is not an accident.
Elliott talks pretty openly about how he sees Def Leppard in comparison to some other bands like Aerosmith and why Def Leppard is known as somewhat of a ballad band.
It’s also kind of interesting to read his take on how traditional British culture differentiates the behavior of British bands vs. American bands. Comments, that were inspired by another questions about Guns N’ Roses, I might add.
Not surprisingly, the aging rocker looks back with some embarrassment at their 1980’s music video “Rock of Ages” where Elliott wields a large sword. What the hell, it was the 80’s and they were in their twenties as I was, so I certainly won’t hold that against them.
