Robert Plant Says ‘No’ To Led Zeppelin World Tour
— March 2, 2008 4 33Here we go yet again it seems. A new report in a U.K. tabloid says that Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant has turned down an offer of $200 Million to embark on a world tour with his old band mates.
It has been pretty obvious that Plant has been the one holding the cards with regard to the decision about any further shows or tours and this recent report is not good news for Led Zeppelin fans.
According to the report, the other two surviving members of the group were in favor of doing more shows. Jimmy Page was said to have enjoyed performing at the O2 show back in December and thought the band had more to offer to their fans.
Bassist John Paul Jones is said to be in agreement with Page and was prepared to continue performing as a group.
There was no word from Jason Bonham, son of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, but one might assume he would readily sign on to any Led Zeppelin tour he was asked to be a part of if his sentiments regarding his experience at the O2 show are any indication.
Once again, Plant is said to be wrapped up in his partnership with country singer Alison Krauss and has said a number of times that he plans to be busy with their tour at least until September.
Perhaps the most disappointing part of this new story for Led Zeppelin fans hoping for a reunion was the following statement made by a source from the group’s organization: “But Robert wanted to leave last year’s concert as their legacy. They had proved they could still do it and that was enough.”

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I refuse to accept this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thanks plant – whole lotta dissapointment!
Robert Plant is a FOOLISH! – on the verge of going down in history as the biggest musical scoundrel and disappointment to the world. Nice final legacy HUH?
They rehearsed for months – it was a hit/top form – Jason Bonham OBVIOUSLY proved himself.. Millions are begging/demanding a world tour and Robert Plant can’t even see past his own nose to just make a selfless offering- one last world event, so a Multigenerational World Fan Base can enjoy one last live performance.. How about a Thank You to us all (young & old) for the past 40 years. What a novel idea. If they sucked on stage at the 02 arena then FINE – Thanks for trying-it’s over-I get it.
But when you still have the magic -TELL ME WHY are you singing HillBilly Duets NOW? Is this a sick joke? Resume a solo gig after a Led Zeppelin World Tour–Alison Krause, will still be there next year for a fun tour.
Millions of fans tried to get tix to the 02 event-there IS a huge interest.
Will someone out there give Robert Plant a wake up call – like yesterday?
